TroopSwap Steps Away From Daily Deals to Digital ID, With an Eye to Being a Marketplace

Posted on

TroopSwap logoTroopSwap began in 2010 as a daily-deals business for veterans, but with the industry’s big players seeing slowing growth, the company is seeking to make a transition. “The firm’s Troop ID widget will provide online retailers and other Web sites with a window where veterans and active-duty military personnel can enter a unique user name and password. Doing so would then qualify them for discounts or other perks.” This will address issues with veteran benefits going unclaimed and exposure to fraud for veterans and businesses. As TroopSwap re-evaluates its business, its eye is toward a long-term goal of creating a Craigslist-like marketplace just for military families who relocate and have to sell their belongings.
