TiVo Product Lets Viewers Search for Brands

TiVo has launched a new advertising search product that lets viewers create searches and select ad content.

The new product, called TiVo Product Watch, delivers content from more than 70 advertisers and 100 brands that can be searched across five different categories, including automotive, entertainment, financial, lifestyles and travel and leisure, the company said.

The searches will deliver content ranging from one minute to 60 minutes to viewers’ Now Playing section of the TiVo service. Searches can also be made based on brand name. Viewers can also opt-in to receive video content from particular brands and on an on-going basis.

General Motors, Sony Pictures, Lending Tree and Kraft Foods are the premium advertisers for the launch of the new product in their respective categories. Offering several examples, TiVo said that GM will show new automotive features, Sony Pictures will offer behind-the-scenes movie trailers, Lending Tree will tout various types of mortgages and Kraft will offer cooking demonstrations. TiVo said the content will be informative and entertaining for its subscribers.

Last year, TiVo launched its interactive direct response ad program where viewers can respond to a customized call to action or branded “tag” in commercial spots. TiVo has more than 4.4 million subscribers.
