The Net’s Horsepower

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

One reason shopping online proved so popular over this past holiday season was that the Web offered truly novel gifts, available nowhere at retail.

Here’s one example of such a site, the name of which could well describe a lot of marketing hype in general-Doodoo.com.

For $19.95, customers can send a gift assortment of, well, doo-doo to anyone they deem worthy. (The site suggests ex-girlfriends or boyfriends, for example.)

Doodoo.com includes a toll-free number, anonymous testimonials and suggestive graphics and sound effects as well as a tag line stressing that “Supplies are NOT limited but act now anyway.” At press time, the site listed 65,000 visitors so far.

No word if heart-shaped boxes are available for Valentine’s Day.
