Texas, Cow Manure and Politicians

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

A little liquid compost will certainly help plants grow, even if the plants are on the heads of politicians.

Cow Wow, a Texas company that markets the compost, has injected its brand into the gubernatorial race there by planting flowering ivy on six-foot terra cotta busts of incumbent Republican candidate Rick Perry and his Democratic opponent Bill White and motoring the busts around the state.

The public is encouraged to vote for the candidate with the better “hair,” which has been treated by Cow Wow, by text or online. The site will keep a rolling tally up to Election Day, Nov. 2.

At each of 20 destinations, brand reps (affectionately known as the Poo Crew), will pass out marketing materials with product information. One location is sure to draw a crowd, the Texas Gubernatorial Debate at The University of Texas on Oct. 19. Other stops include, Sprouts Farmer’s Markets and the Texas Book Festival, both in Austin.

Former gubernatorial candidate, Kinky Friedman, who is also a musician and writer, kicked off the campaign Monday at an event using extra large hedge clippers to give the candidates a trim.

The “Heads of State” tour was created and developed by Door Number 3. In addition to voting at the Web site, visitors can check out the tour schedule, learn about the product and sign up for a newsletter

Cow Wow is described as a product that reuses dairy farm waste to feed soil and encourage plant growth.
