General Mills is dressing up the iconic Pillsbury Bake-Off with a new designer apron and an online sweepstakes.
Minneapolis-based General Mills commissioned designer Todd Oldham to create an apron for the 42nd Bake-Off. The contest’s 100 finalists will wear his design during the March 19-22 competition.
The retro-style apron — khaki with red gingham trim and a drawing of kitchen utensils poking out of its pocket — goes on sale to the general public on Jan. 10 at Pillsbury.com/Bakeoff.
The site also will host a contest that lets viewers vote for their favorite finalist recipe; the top vote-getter wins a $10,000 America’s Favorite Recipe Award during the Bake-Off awards ceremony. Consumers who vote between Jan. 10 and Feb. 28 are automatically entered in a sweeps to win a trip for two to the competition in Orlando, FL.
The sweeps winner gets a $1 million if the recipe he voted for turns out to be the Bake-Off’s grand-prize winner.
The Pillsbury Bake-Off was named to the PROMO Hall of Fame in 2003.
