BASKIN-ROBBINS: is kicking off an early summer promotion with a 31 Cent Scoop Night. Customers can receive any 2.5-ounce ice cream flavor for 31 cents between 5 and 10 p.m. on May 2. The company will also help raise funds to benefit the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. Local fire departments will be on hand in stores to collect donations for the cause.
KROGER CO.: will buy 18 Scott’s Food & Pharmacy stores from Supervalu. The northern Indiana stores will become part of Kroger’s Central division, which now operates 145 stores under the Kroger, Hilander, Owen’s and Pay Less banners. Kroger said it expects to keep the Scott’s name, and most of its employees. The deal is expected to close later this year; terms were not disclosed.
