New Study Shows Phishing Attacks Increasing Rapidly

The number of unique phishing attacks worldwide will grow an astonishing 115% to 110 unique attacks per month by 2008 from an average of 51 attacks per month in 2004, according to a study by The Radicati Group Inc., “E-mail Anti-Phishing and Anti-Fraud Market Trends 2004-2008.”

As online consumers become more educated, phishers have had to become increasingly more sophisticated. The study provides market size, market share, four-year forecasts, technology trends, key solutions and competitive information for the emerging e-mail anti-phishing and anti-fraud software market.

Despite increasing concerns over online security, the e-mail anti-phishing market is still in its infancy, according to the Palo Alto, CA-based consulting and market research firm. This study divides the market into two segments: e-mail anti-phishing solutions, which protect consumers from divulging personal information to criminals, and anti-fraud solutions, designed to protect an organization’s brand, trademark and Web site from fraud.
