The plush-covered, padded cases are available for $2.90 each with any purchase at the 568 Limited Two stores nationwide. The cases, which hold eight CDs or DVDs, come in three colors with images of the popular Neopets characters—Uni, Gelert and Aisha. Neopets are virtual pets that can be created and cared for in an online world.
The promotion began in February and will continue until supplies last, said Limited Too spokesman Robert Atkinson.
Neopets and Limited Too initially joined forces nearly three years ago. The latest promotion marks the first for both brands, which target tweens ages seven to 14, Atkinson said.
In addition to the in-store promotion, Neopets launched a Limited Too Mix ‘n’ Match game on its Web site Neopets.com giving consumers a chance to earn virtual currency to “shop” for items for their virtual pets. To earn Neopoints, players must match Limited Too items before time runs out. Players can use Neopoints to buy food or toys for their Neopets or collect rare items and magical potions.
The Web site also lets consumers trade virtual items with friends online, play more than 100 online games, write for The Neoplan Times, an online newspaper and explore the world of Neopia. More than 25,000 million members have registered on the Neopets Web site.
