Monster Mulling Sale of DM Units: Reports

Monster worldwide, the parent of online classified site Monster.com, said it’s considering shedding its direct marketing business, according to wire service reports.

Those businesses include a Yellow Pages advertising agency, a direct marketing interactive business and direct response units. Although Monster’s directional marketing businesses posted a $3.8 million profit last year, annual revenue decreased to $94.1 million, from $103.3 million in 2003. The company attributed the loss to Yellow Pages directories closing and fewer Yellow Pages ad placements.
