Just in time for Valentine’s Day, The American Heart Association (AHA) will launch a multi-year campaign to raise awareness of cardiovascular disease.
Macy’s and Pfizer sponsor the initiative, Go Red For Women, which encourages women to take charge of their heart health and builds awareness of heart disease, the No. 1 killer of women in the U.S.
The campaign officially kicks off at Macy’s Herald Square on Feb. 4, with actress Daryl Hannah as spokesperson and a fashion show featuring Swarovski Crystal’s Little Red Dress Collection. Macy’s has also developed a marketing effort, including special red merchandise, to benefit the AHA. Pfizer will conduct educational campaigns throughout the country in support of the campaign.
The AHA also sponsors the National Wear Red Day for Women on Feb. 6, in support of all women who have been touched by heart disease or stroke.
A portion of the proceeds of designated products from Pantene, St. John, Reebok, Walgreens and others will additionally benefit the AHA programs and activities for women.
