L’Oreal SA lost its legal bid to overturn a European Union trademark ruling that favored its rival Revlon Inc.
The French cosmetics giant had attempted to register the “Flexi Air” name for a variety of its shampoos and other hair care products. The European court of First Instance upheld a 2001 decision to reject L’Oreal’s attempts, according to the Associated Press.
Revlon had said that it already held the rights to the word “Flex” for hair products in some E.U. nations, the report said. Revlon sells shampoo, styling products, conditioner and a “2 in 1” product under the brand “Flex”.
