Live From New Orleans: Canada Post to Aid U.S. Catalogers

Canada Post is developing a turn-key service for U.S. catalogers seeking to do business north of the border. It will assist them with prospecting, order fulfillment, order processing, market research and other tasks.

Roughly 50% of all Canadians buy direct, but the catalog market is only one 55% of the size of the U.S. market, according to Patrick Bartlett, director general international for Canada Post. In contrast, the Canadian retail market is one tenth the size of that in the U.S. The service, which has not yet been named, is scheduled for launch in January 2005.
