Direct marketing revenue grew at a lower rate than retail last month for Jos. A. Bank Clothiers Inc.
Overall sales totaled $23.9 million, a 12.2% increase over March of last year. Combined catalog retail sales rose by 3.7%.
Total sales for the two months ended April 5 increased by 10.1% to $39.3 million. Combined catalog/internet sales jumped by 6.7%.
CEO Robert N. Wildrick said in a statement that the firm expects “earnings per share in the first quarter of 2003 to exceed the prior year results for the same period.”
Wildrick added that the Hampstead, MD-based company plans to open 50 new stores this year, 14 of which will have been opened by the end of this week.
