JCPenney to Mail Newly Formatted Christmas Catalogs

JCPenney will send out 10 million copies of its Christmas Catalog this fall. The redesigned catalog will feature merchandise grouped by themes such as “gifts under $25,” “gifts for him or her,” “gifts for home” and “gifts for nostalgic memories.”

“Items are easy to find so customers spend less time shopping and more time with friends and family,” John Irvin, president, catalog and Internet, JC Penney Company, said in a statement.

The 8″ x 11″ book will offer 2,240 items on 532 pages. Each edition weighs 1.9 pounds, and is half an inch thick. The Plano, TX-based company has published its Christmas catalog since 1963.

The company began mailing out the catalogs during the last week of August, and anticipates a four-to-five-week timeframe for finishing the drop, according to a company spokesperson.

JCPenney is guaranteeing Christmas Eve delivery for all orders placed through the catalog or online by 10:00AM CST on Dec. 23. Customers wishing to avoid prying eyes can also arrange to have their purchases shipped to retail stores throughout the country, where items can be held for pickup.
