Mountain Dew will kick off its annual Free Flow Tour next month, and will award the top team rider at the amateur skateboarding contest a trip to this year’s X Games in Los Angeles.
The 39 winners from the 13-stop skatepark tour, beginning May 15, will compete in the first-ever Free Flow finals at California’s Encinitas YMCA Skatepark, where they will be judged by Mountain Dew-sponsored riders Shaun White, Rune Gilfberg and Pat Channita.
The winner of that competition will receive the X Games trip, which includes an all-access pass and the opportunity to practice with the pros on the competition street course, tour spokesperson Glen Braunsdorf said.
Braunsdorf said the events will most likely be promoted through radio spots and with print ads in local newspapers and local and national skateboard publications. Registration forms will be available at skateparks, skate shots and sporting good stores in each region. The tour is also being promoted online at www.freeflowtour.com.
