Fortune 500 Firms Embrace Toll-Free Numbers: Study

Fortune 500 companies have embraced toll-free numbers, with 86% using them. Of those, half employ vanity numbers, which translate into words for easy customer recall.

Among the Fortune 500, financial companies ranked first among those using toll-free numbers, with 94% doing so. Energy firms followed, with 82% using them, followed by computer companies (78%), and insurance providers (75%). Fifty five percent of them have at least two toll-free numbers.

Consumers have embraced toll-free numbers, with one-third of them making at least 60 toll-free calls a year, the report said. More than seven in ten have made a purchase using a toll-free number.
