FCC Affirms, Expands FTC Telemarketing Rules

The Federal Communications Commission commissioners voted unanimously to adopt changes to the Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991. Those changes call for:

*A single nationwide do-not-call list.

*Restricting marketers from calling customers that haven’t made a purchase within 18 months, or an inquiry within three months.

*Setting rules for callers to identify themselves and blocking information sent to caller ID.
