EUniverse has acquired online marketing company ResponseBase LLC in an all cash deal. The interactive entertainment network said it plans to retain all of ResponseBase’s 24 employees including senior management.
ResponseBase, Santa Monica, CA, manages a database of about 30 million permission-based e-mail records. Access to the database is expected to enhance distribution of e-Universe’s products and services.
“The transaction will provide us with greater distribution, cross promotional opportunities and new product ideas, and strengthen both companies’ products and services and advertising business segments,” Brad Greenspan, CEO of eUniverse, said in a statement.
The company plans to address the expected accretive impact of the transaction with the release of its second quarter operating results next month. Previously, the firm had forecast revenue and net income of $11.6 million and $1.8 million, respectively, for the quarter.
Last March, L90 Inc. had said that it would be acquired by eUniverse in a cash deal worth up to $55 million. The deal was terminated and L90 blamed the collapse on a pending Securities and Exchange Commission investigation into its financial records, and the uncertainty as to when the probe would be completed.
