Language involving the creation of do-not-spam list will be part of the CAN-SPAM Act being discussed now by the full Senate, Sen. Charles Schumer announced.
Schumer (D-NY) has been working for months on a deal that would include do-not-spam language in CAN-SPAM, the major Senate anti-spam bill.
The compromise he reached would require the Federal Trade Commission to deliver a plan to Congress for creating a no-spam registry within six months. It authorizes the FTC to implement the plan within nine months.
CAN-SPAM, sponsored by Sen. Conrad Burns (R-MT) and Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR), along with Schumer, is expected to be voted on and pass today.
