DMA Upgrades Privacy Policy Generator

The Direct Marketing Association has upgraded its privacy policy generator to help marketers create online privacy policies that more completely disclose information practices to consumers.

As a result of the upgrade, online marketers will be able to notify site visitors and consumers about their information practices including:

* whether or not the site uses cookies to track movements.

* whether or not advertisers and third-party ad servers may be collecting non-personally identifiable information at the site.

* an explanation of recourse to address alleged violations of the stated privacy policy.

* a definition of policies that allow access to specific consumer accounts and the ability to correct mistakes that may exist.

The service is free to all organizations–not just DMA members. It is located at (http://www.the-dma.org), where a questionnaire can be completed to create a privacy policy statement for individual Web sites.
