Disney Lets People Buy Movie Tickets on Facebook

Disney is testing its Facebook page as a means to let people buy its movie tickets.

The application, called “Disney Tickets Together,” alerts friends and prompts the user to invite them to buy tickets. Currently, tickets for “Toy Story 3” are up for sale.

Users click on the “go to application” button and give the service access to personal information in their profiles. A page then loads ticket times at nearby theaters based on their profile location settings.

“The whole idea is that no friend gets left behind,” Oliver Luckett, senior vice president and general manager of DigiSynd, a Disney subsidiary that manages the entertainment giant’s social networking presence, said.

The application works with companies like Fandango, and if successful Disney will roll out future ticket sales.
