Digital River Inc., an online marketing systems provider, is cutting 120 positions worldwide, outsourcing the majority of its customer service operations.
Beginning in September, the firm plans to contract out these functions to Sitel, which will handle most customer e-mail and phone inquiries.
Digital said it would hold onto some customer service employees in its Minneapolis and Shannon, Ireland, offices.
Separately, Digital said it plans to open an unspecified number of new sales positions in the consumer electronics, small- to mid-size business software, subscriptions, games and business-to-business markets.
