Digital Delivery Will Help Sheet Music Sales: Survey

Digital delivery of sheet music holds the potential to dramatically expand the sheet music market, according to a survey by Musicnotes Inc.

The survey polled 1,000 people within the past two weeks.

“The survey reinforces our belief that digital delivery of sheet music expands the entire market,” stated Bill Aicher, Musicnotes’ marketing director in a statement.

A full 60% of respondents indicated that digital availability would entice them to buy more sheet music than originally intended ,while 32% said they’d buy about the same amount.

In addition, 32% said digital delivery would lead them to buy fewer traditional music books than before, while 9% actually said more traditional music books.

But nearly all respondents said they’d prefer to purchase sheet music from a single Web site. Musicnotes Inc., Madison, WI, (www.musicnotes.com) is an online retailer of sheet music and music books.
