Volney Taylor, chairman/CEO of Dun & Bradstreet Corp., the Murray Hill, NJ information supplier, plans to step down. Taylor, 59, will retire Dec. 31. In a letter to the board of directors, he reportedly said it was “appropriate” for him to resign after 27 years at the company “in light of my own personal and professional considerations.” D&B has recently come under fire from several institutional shareholders, who are requesting that D&B retain an investment bank to explore either a divestiture or an outright sale. Clifford L. Alexander Jr., 66, president of Alexander & Associates and a member of the board of directors, will serve as interim chairman and CEO until a permanent replacement can be hired.
