Convergys Corp. will close a Fort Pierce, FL-based call center on May 16, according to the Palm Beach Post. The facility employed 200 workers, a level that had fallen recently from 1,000 due to the loss of several contracts. Convergys employs 6,000 employees in Florida, the Palm Beach Post reported.
While management had been bidding for new business, the final blow came when two large clients bowed out, according to the Palm Beach Post. During its four years in existence, the 56,000-square-foot center handled technical support and other calls for firms in the computer, Internet provider and credit card industries.
