Coke’s Marketing Head Departs Amid Shuffle

After more than 10 years on the job, Randy Ransom, who led marketing on Coca-Cola, has resigned amid a shift of senior level management and organizational restructuring in the marketing area.

Katie Bayne, previously senior VP-integrated marketing, has been named senior VP-Coca-Cola Trademark BBU (Brand Business Unit) to replace Ransom.

Dan Dillon will assume responsibility as senior VP-portfolio strategies group. This new unit brings together the carbonated soft drink portfolio packaging work and Hispanic marketing (previously housed in the Coke BBU), as well as new responsibilities for revenue growth management and healthy living. Dillon had been head of the Diet BBU.

Alison Lewis will continue to lead the Sprite/Flavors business unit, including responsibility for the diet component of that portfolio of brands.

In addition, the Coke and Diet brand business units will be combined to create one Coca-Cola Trademark BBU.

“This new unit will bring the stewardship of all of our Coca-Cola trademarked products into one unit, allowing us to better develop and execute a holistic portfolio strategy for all our Coca-Cola trademarked brands,” the company said in a statement.
