Celebs Deliver for Amazon on Tenth Birthday

Online retailer Amazon has teamed with long-time delivery partner UPS to celebrate the Web site’s tenth anniversary and help a handful of worthy causes via some serious star power.

Call it the ultimate in “Brown”-nosing: Starting today through July 16, UPS deliveries of some Amazon items will be made by the stars of the product. Among the celebrities scheduled to make special deliveries are: actor Harrison Ford, who may deliver the Raiders of the Lost Ark DVD; musician Moby, hand-delivering his CD Hotel; and Jason Alexander, with a Seinfeld DVD. In exchange, the celebs get a temporary boutique on Amazon on which they can tout their products and flag favorite charities.

Footage of deliveries will be streamed on the Amazon.com web site each day until July 16, when Amazon will stream performances by Bob Dylan and Norah Jones live on the Amazon.com home page.

“We are excited to celebrate our 10th Anniversary with these special thank-you surprises for our customers,” said Amazon.com Vice President Kathy Savitt in a statement.
