Brands Give Toys and More to Kids for the Holidays

Cypress, CA-based Bandai America, Inc. contributed more than $5 million worth of toys to the 2003 U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign. A national corporate sponsor of Toys for Tots since 1995, Bandai provided the donation, the largest to the toy campaign for the second year in a row, to alleviate the national shortfall in toy donations this holiday season. Also benefiting children, Ford Motor Company joined forces with Scholastic Parent & Child Magazine and Reading is Fundamental, Inc. (RIF) to donate 50,000 children’s books to kids in need. The book donation is part of a national early childhood education program developed by Scholastic Parent & Child Magazine and Ford, to help children learn about safety and literacy which program reaches millions of parents, teachers and children, online, at home and in more than 100,000 preschool and kindergarten classrooms nationwide. As part of the program, Ford and Scholastic developed an interactive online book donation program offering parents and teachers the opportunity to log-on to the official safety Web site, www.clueintosafety.com, and select a book to donate to a needy child.
