Book-of-the-Month Club has created Smart Reader Rewards, a program that allows participants to select the genre of books they want to receive.
The new club marks a departure from Book-of-the Month Club’s traditional business model. Under the traditional plan, club members are automatically sent a current selection, regardless of genre. Existing Book-of-the-Month club members will remain enrolled in the traditional program.
Smart Reader Rewards members choose from one of six categories, including Mystery & Suspense, History & Biography, Fiction, Nonfiction & Current Events, Home & Family, and Health & Self-Help. Each month they are offered a book from their chosen genre, and may either elect to accept it, refuse it, or choose an alternative title. Members may switch their chosen genre every month, as well as order books from other categories.
Smart Reader Rewards members will also be able to take advantage of Booksearch Plus, a service that tracks down tomes not listed in the company’s catalog or online site at no extra cost.
