BK Names Robinson European President

In other QSR news, Burger King Corp. has named Peter Robinson as president of its Europe, Middle East and Africa operations, effective immediately. Robinson will be based in the company’s headquarters in Zug, Switzerland, and will report to Burger King Corporation CEO John W. Chidsey.

In his new role, Robinson, former president of Pillsbury USA and senior VP of General Mills, Inc., will oversee Burger King Corp.’s business in the region, including operations, marketing and franchisee development. In addition, Robinson will be part of the chain’s executive leadership team. He replaces Steve DeSutter, who resigned from the post as president earlier this month. Robinson is a native of the U.K.

Robinson previously worked as president of Pillsbury USA after General Mills acquired Pillsbury in 2001. There, Robinson played an instrumental role integrating Pillsbury into the General Mills brand. Before joining Pillsbury in 1999, he worked as president of Frito-Lay International, where he oversaw Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa divisions. He has also held leadership positions at Kraft General Foods.

Burger King’s Europe, Middle East and Africa operations contain more than 2,100 restaurants in 26 countries and territories, including the U.K., Germany, Spain and the Netherlands.
