College football fans will get a chance to see the BCS National Championship in person by voting for the AT&T All-America Player of the Week wirelessly.
Fans register by text messaging “Vote” to “87654” on their cell phones. They then have until midnight each Wednesday to vote for four weekly finalists announced by ESPN on its Sunday morning SportsCenter, via text message or online at ESPNAllAmerica.com. The weekly winner is revealed during halftime of the Thursday night ESPN college football game.
There is no limit on voting, and each vote cast counts as one entry for a sweepstakes to win a trip to the 2008 BCS National Championship match-up in New Orleans on Jan. 8.
“We are proud to give college football fans a voice and bring them closer to the sport through the voting,” said Dave Garver, executive director of AT&T Wireless business development and wireless sponsorships.
In December, four finalists for the AT&T All-America Player of the Year will be revealed during a one-hour ABC special that unveils the Football Writers of Association All-America team. Fans can then vote for those players until Jan. 4, with the winner announced during the BCS game on Fox.
AT&T customers also can visit the company’s wireless NCAA Football Portal to see video highlights of each week’s candidates and pick from 150 college fight song ringtones for download, along with school logos, 3-D wallpapers and animated screensavers.
