Aspen Marketing Acquires Newgen From TeleTech

Aspen Marketing Services Inc. has acquired the Newgen Results Corp. subsidiary of TeleTech Holdings Inc., a move that expands Aspen’s already large teleservices presence in the automotive sector.

Terms for the acquisition will be released at the close of the trading day on Wednesday in documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, according to a spokesperson with TeleTech.

With the acquisition the number of automotive dealerships that Aspen provides inbound and outbound teleservices will increase from 2,700 to 4,500, which is equal to roughly one-quarter of automotive dealers nationwide, says Tim Hanlon, executive vice president and managing partner at privately owned Aspen.

Newgen maintains a database with information on vehicles owned by 90 million consumers. On an annual basis it mails 40 million direct mail pieces and makes 40 million outbound telemarketing calls.

Bob Kurilko who previously served as vice president of marketing and operations at Newgen has been named executive vice president and general manager at Aspen’s new operating unit in San Diego. The acquisition has increased Aspen’s employee headcount by roughly 125 to a 780.

Newgen’s customer base and its interactive voice response (IVR) system for routing calls from customers making appointments for auto service made the acquisition attractive to Aspen, according to Hanlon.

Aspen handles direct mail and e-mail communications for General Motors Corp., among other clients. It expects to significantly expand its telephone call volume as a result of the acquisition, he says.
