Women’s apparel retailer Ann Taylor Stores Corp. has named Robert Luzzi as chief marketing officer.
In his new role, Luzzi will oversee all aspects of marketing, visual and the in-store environment for the company’s brands, reporting to Kay Krill, Ann Taylor president and CEO. The position takes effect on Sept. 10, the company said.
Luzzi replaces Elaine Boltz, who worked as the company’s former executive vice president and chief marketing officer since 2006. She left the post on Aug. 17.
He joins Ann Taylor from women’s apparel chain New York & Company Inc., where he worked since 2003 as executive vice president, chief marketing/creative director. Before that, Luzzi worked 10 years at Estee Lauder Inc., as senior vice president, creative design and advertising worldwide.
Details about Luzzi’s replacement at New York & Co. were unavailable.
Luzzi’s arrival comes as Ann Taylor stores Friday posted a 27% decline in second quarter profit. Net sales fell roughly 1% to $614.5 million, while same-store sales dropped 6.2%
But the retailer expects a turnaround with the launch of a new apparel line targeting the “modern boomer.” The new line is expected to rollout next fall, the company said.
