American Eagle Outfitters Launches New Clothing Line

American Eagle Outfitters is rolling out a new casual sportswear line geared toward men and women 25 to 40, the latest retail concept from the brand.

The new line called Martin + Osa, blends denim, active sportswear and classic styles together. The clothing line, the first for the brand, will hit shopping centers in the fall of 2006. American Eagle Outfitters is best known for its branded apparel for 15- to 25-year-olds.

“Martin + Osa represents an important long-term growth opportunity for our company,” said CEO Jim O’Donnell in a statement. “It will give us access to the sportswear market for an entirely new generation of shoppers, outside of AE’s 15- to 25- year-old target customers.”

The name is derived from Martin and Osa Johnson, a married couple from Kansas who spanned the globe as explorers, photographers, naturalists and authors from 1917 to 1936. American Eagle Outfitters’ clothing line will embody the Johnsons’ spirit of sport, outdoors and adventure.
