Amazon Acquires BookSurge

Amazon.com Inc. has purchased BookSurge LLC, a print-on-demand publishing house based in Charleston, SC. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

“BookSurge makes it possible to print books that appeal to targeted audiences, whether it’s one copy or one thousand,” said George Greeley, vice president of media products for Amazon.com, in a statement.

Greeley continued, “Our new relationship with BookSurge will provide Amazon customers an ever-expanding selection of titles that are not available through other channels.”

BookSurge’s inventory includes thousands of books, which can be printed out and sent to a buyer when purchased. Titles include the Arabic-language version of The Da Vinci Code.
