Alloy Partners with USA Swimming for April Pools

Alloy Media & Marketing is helping USA Swimming promote its April Pool’s Day campaign, which targets students from kindergarten to the sixth grade in an effort to integrate water safety curriculum into classrooms.

This is the third year of the initiative, but the first year the Alloy has been a partner. USA Swimming is bringing star-power to the month-long event, with Olympic medalists Amanda Beard, Natalie Coughlin, Ian Crocker and Michael Phelps encouraging children to sign a water safety pledge, and Alloy is supporting with an online sweepstakes that dangles a pool party for the schools that sign the most pledges.

Students at participating elementary schools log onto Winpoolparty.com and sign the water safety pledge, which counts as a vote for their school to win the USA Swimming Ultimate Pool Party. Pledges can be made any time during the month of April.

Alloy will further promote the contest and water safety in 5,000 schools via its in-school media vehicle, 360 School Voice, encouraging students to visit the Web site and vote.

The four schools nationally with the most votes will each win the party, which will feature an appearance by a member of the 2004 USA Olympic Swim Team. The athlete will teach a water safety class and discuss their experience growing up in the swimming community. Each winning school will also receive a cash donation of $1,000 from USA Swimming to benefit school programs.

Additionally, four runner-up schools will receive a $500 cash donation for participating. Rounding out the promotion, Alloy will be supplying more than 2,000 schools with USA Swimming water safety kits, ultimately reaching more than one million children.

Through its targeted e-mail program, Alloy will also contact to parents, informing them about water safety education and sharing details about the contest.

On a grassroots level, more than 2,800 USA Swimming clubs will host their own localized April Pool’s Day events throughout the month, educating their surrounding communities in a safe, fun-filled way. Events will include pool parties, open houses and free swim days, all incorporating elements of water safety education.

Children and families attending month-long April Pool’s Day events at USA Swimming clubs in their area can also sign the USA Swimming Water Safety Pledge.
