Brookstone, Inc., Nashua, NH, had net income of $18.7 million for the fourth quarter of fiscal 1998, up 18% from net income of $15.3 in fourth-quarter 1997. Fourth quarter net sales increased 11.2% to $136.7 million from $123 million for the fourth quarter of last year. Same store sales for the fiscal 1998 fourth quarter increased 7.0%. The fourth quarter and twelve months ended Jan. 30.
For fiscal 1998, the company had net income of $9.3 million, up 27% from $7.3 million for the previous year. Total sales increased 13.3% to $271.9 million compared to $239.9 million. Same store sales for the comparable period increased 6.0%.
“Fourth quarter results were driven by strong retail store performance and continued strength in our direct marketing division, including our expanding e-commerce business,” said president and CEO Michael Anthony.
