Acxiom Corp. will reduce its domestic work force by between five and seven percent, according to published reports. The company currently employs around 4,300 individuals within the U.S.
Dale Ingram, a company spokesman, confirmed only that the Little Rock, AR-based data services provider had eliminated positions within the last two weeks as a result of an organizational restructuring. But a source indicated that there would likely be additional layoffs between Wednesday morning and April 1.
The cuts to date came throughout the company, and crossed a number of responsibilities and tenure levels, the reports said. Acxiom does not anticipate closing any facilities as a result of the layoffs, the accounts continued.
The action marks the second time within three years that the company has experienced significant downsizing. In mid-2001, Acxiom let go around 400 associates. At the time, the layoffs were a defensive posturing. Ingram declined to comment on the impact the staff reductions will have on the company
