Posted on

Mattel is hitting tween girls right where it counts, in the cell phone.

The promotion entices young girls to buy its fall Chillin’ Out line of My Scene dolls. By mailing in the UPC codes from the boxes, along with $6.75 for shipping and handling, girls get a free prepaid cell phone with up to 300 prepaid minutes to dish on the latest gossip. The offer is good through Dec. 31.

The cell phone partner company was not disclosed.

The Chillin’ Out series are four characters dressed up in winter ski gear that retail for $14.99 each.

Last fall, My Scene debuted a tween-targeted fashion brand for girls.
