Word Wrestling Entertainment will name its biggest fan in a “red carpet” New York City event preceding its climactic “SummerSlam” pay-per-view event on Aug. 26.

WWE fans vying for the title of biggest pro wrestling booster have submitted more than 1,000 videos to demonstrate their devotion in a contest conducted for WWE by Ziddo.com.

The 15 finalists will attend the event in Times Square on Aug. 24 where a panel of WWE stars, including John Cena, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Batista and Randy Orton will make their picks and award the winner $25,000.

WWE reports the video submissions from the biggest WWE fan wannabes were viewed 785,000 times during the contest.

Immediately preceding the “SummerSlam” on Sunday night at the Continental Airlines Arena at New Jersey’s Meadowlands complex, WWE stars will participate in a fund-raiser for ex-New York Giants defensive end George Martin’s “Journey for 9/11.”

For $10, fans can take photos with the WWE stars and meet Martin, whose project seeks to raise awareness and funds for rescue workers coping with health problems in the wake of their work on the World Trade Center disaster site.

WWE claims the “SummerSlam” event is a sellout at the 20,000-seat Continental Arena.

WWE has also been running a sweepstakes with Gold’s Gym with a grand prize of a free trip for two to attend the event.
