Williams-Sonoma Expects to Post Lower Earnings

Williams-Sonoma Inc., the San Francisco-based cataloger and retailer, said earnings of 4 cents to 6 cents per share for the quarter ending Oct. 29, reportedly falling far short of expectations.

Revenue is expected to range between $380 million and $395 million.

The company attributed these results to lower than expected sales from fall and early holiday catalog mailings, higher catalog advertising costs, and depressed retail gross margins.
