Web-based Coupon Use Hits New Monthly High for RetailmeNot.com
Coupon aggregator Web site RetailMeNot.com says retailers generated approximately $33 million in sales at its site in February, a 62% increase over the savings value for the same month last year.
The site, a division of Melbourne Australia-based Stateless Systems, says its top online coupon for the month was an offer for a fee of $9.99 a day on weekends from rental car agency Enterprise.com, which received more than 70,000 clicks for the month. Among printable coupons, the most popular consumer choice for February was a 30% rebate that could be used at Adidas Outlet Stores.
RetailMeNot.com added printable local coupons to its selection a year ago by striking partnerships with Valassis, Money Mailer and ValPak. In February 2010, the Web site also signed a reciprocal distribution arrangement with Web and mobile coupon provider Coupons.com.
Among online coupons, the most popular store brands searched in February on www.Retailmenot.com were Victoria’s Secret and Amazon, followed by JC Penney, Dominos Pizza and Kohl’s. Monthly on-site search leaders among printable coupons were Fantastic Sam’s, KFC and IHOP.
During the month, the printable coupon categories that visitors showed most interest in by their search behavior were food, apparel, restaurants, clothing and oil changes, in that order.
The Web site also reports that registered users shared 37,577 coupons they found on www.Retailmenot.com in February with their friends. They also input 539,444 votes to various polls and forum topics on the site during the month, along with 18,800 user comments.
