Warner Brothers Consumer Products has signed a licensing agreement with television maker HANNspree California, Inc. to create television sets based on its Looney Tunes characters.
The initial LCD televisions will feature Tweety, Bugs Bunny and the Tasmanian Devil (Taz). The Looney Tunes-themed TV sets will be available after March at HANNSpree-owned stores, HANNSpree.com and Amazon.com.
“Warner Brothers Consumer Products’ license agreement … expands our branding statement in the consumer electronics category. Fans of the classic Looney Tunes characters can now bring these fun and functional LCD TVs into their everyday living environments,” said Kelly Gilmore, SVP-global toys and themed entertainment at Warner Bros.
The cartoon-inspired TV sets feature a multi-dimensional 360-degree design.
The Tweety bird model will have an illustration of Tweety taunting Sylvester, while the Taz model will feature Taz chomping on the TV’s detachable cabinet. One of two Bugs Bunny models will be shaped like the famed hare, while the other will illustrate the “wabbit” with roller blades.
The suggested retail price for the models will be $499.
“The license agreement … is a part of an overreaching strategy to add Warner Brothers Consumer Products properties into the consumer electronics category,” Gilmore said. “As the category becomes more fashion-focused, consumers are looking for more ways to personalize their electronics. Character licensing is a natural fit for this need.”
