Walgreens hopes to quadruple employees and revenue over the next five years in its Walgreen Health Services division, which operates a mail order pharmacy.
The unit also contains pharmacy benefit management service and small home care and specialty pharmacy businesses.
Greg Wasson, division president of the Chicago-based firm, said WHS was “aggressively recruiting new employees for all levels, including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, account managers and computer programmers.”
According to news reports, WHS is moving to build the business in the face of rapidly growing competition from pharmacy benefit management firms Express Scripts Inc., Caremark Rx Inc. and Medco Health Solutions.
