After employing a virtual model for its online shoppers, Lands’ End, Dodgeville, WI, has increased average order value and conversion rates.
Shoppers who used the model were 19% more likely to purchase items and had a 16% higher average order value than those that did not use the model, the companies said in a statement.
Lands’ End debuted the model at landsend.com in the fall of 1998 using My Virtual Model Inc., technology.
The technology allows men and women to create images of their body shape and style and to virtually try on “hundreds of apparel items” in their virtual dressing room to see how items look before they buy. Customers can also e-mail the model to friends or family and use the model as a shopping aid for those on their gift list.
