USPS Posts Mail Revenue and Volume Declines

The U.S. Postal Service reported net income of $2.82 billion for the fiscal year ended June 30 on total revenue of $52 billion.

Revenue for standard mail for the quarter ended June 30 was $4.4 billion, up 7.2% from $4.1 billion last year. Standard mail volume for the period was 23.4 million pieces, up 7.8% from $21.4 million last year.

For the year to date, revenue for standard mail was $13.5 million, up 4.3% from $12.9 million last year.

First class mail revenue for the period was $8.7 million, off 3.2% from $9 million last year. First class volume for the quarter declined 23.5 million pieces from 24.2 million last year.

For the year to date, first class mail revenue was $27.7 million, off 1.8% from $28.2 million last year. First class mail volume was 74.3 million pieces, off 1.4% from 75.3 million pieces last year.
