Unilever Restructures: Michael Murphy, VP Marketing Resources, to Depart

Unilever is moving forward with its global restructuring plan, creating new businesses for marketing and branding and appointing executives to head those areas.

In an internal announcement made last week, Laura Klauberg, most recently senior VP- global marketing for Unilever Cosmetics International, has been appointed VP-Shared Marketing Services, a new business. Lisa Klauser, currently VP-integrated marketing capability for Unilever Foods, is now VP-Brand Building Through Customers, another new business, Unilever spokesperson Allison Harmon said.

“The groups are being designed to build excellence in marketing and to build a single way to operate across each region,” she said.

As a result of this round of changes, Michael Murphy, VP-marketing resources for Unilever Home and Personal Care (HPC), will be leaving at the end of September, Harmon confirmed. Murphy has worked for the company since 1999 from Unilever’s HBC offices in Greenwich, CT.

Murphy is slated to become the chairman of the Promotional Marketing Association at that organization’s next annual conference in March 2006.

The changes at Unilever are part of a broader 2005 restructuring that began in January called One Unilever, which combines Unilever HPC and Unilever Foods.

“It’s been a process that’s rolled out throughout the year,” Harmon said.
