Two of Three DMers to Add Staff: Survey

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

(Direct Newsline)—Two-thirds of direct marketing companies will be adding employees in the coming three months, down from 70% last quarter, according to a survey from Bernhart Associates Executive Search.

Ten percent said they still have a hiring freeze and 3% of said they plan to reduce headcount this spring.

“All of the key indicators are holding steady this year and remain at healthy levels,” said president Jerry Bernhart. “The new jobs index is down only slightly and the number of companies planning cutbacks has fallen to its lowest level in the five years we’ve been conducting the survey.”

Employers surveyed said they anticipate the strongest hiring needs to be in account management, analytics, sales and technology.

The survey polled 112 direct marketing agencies, suppliers and end-users during the week of April 4th.
