Tootsie Roll ice cream hits stores nationally this month via a licensing deal between Tootsie Roll Industries and Denali Flavors.
Denali has contracts with 11 ice cream manufacturers to produce two flavors: Tootsie Roll, with chewy fudge-filled pieces and fudge swirl in chocolate ice cream, and Tootsie Pops, vanilla ice cream with a fudge swirl and bits of cherry and grape candy.
Wayland, MI-based Denali provides marketing support. The company worked with Chicago-based Tootsie Roll Industries to create Andes Crème de Menthe ice cream and ice cream sandwiches, launched last year. Denali’s best-seller is Moose Tracks ice cream, licensed to 80 dairies nationally.
