TiVo Inc. has introduced an advertising search feature for TV viewers to request information from among five product categories. Its 4.4 million subscribers will be able to opt-in to hear from specific companies on an ongoing basis.
Altogether more than 70 advertisers and 100 brands are participating in the initial launch. These include General Motors, Sony Pictures, Lending Tree, Kraft Foods and Reebok.
“TiVo Product Watch will for the first time enable TV viewers to get commercial information about a product they are interested, when they want it,” said Tom Rogers, president and CEO of TiVo in a statement.
